But there were other, vaguer, harder-to-pin-down feelings, like: a pit in the stomach that means something is either really good or really bad or both. A feeling of being old and young at once. A sense of beginnings and endings happening at the same time. A certainty that your life is changing, but an uncertainty about how it's changing and whether you want it to.” Simon attended Yale, [ citation needed] where he came out as gay when he was 20 years old. [6] Later he earned an MA in Comparative Literature from UC Irvine. [ citation needed] He currently lives in Pasadena, California, with his husband, Phillip de Leon. [7] They have twin children, who were born in 2007. [7] Professional career [ edit ]

Simon was born on October 25, 1967, to writers Dyanne Asimow and Roger L. Simon. [note 1] [2] He was born in Los Angeles County, California. [4] His brother, Jesse, is a visual artist. [2] He also has significantly younger half-sister, Madeleine, from his father's third marriage. [5] Pseudonymous Bosch is the infamously anonymous author of the New York Times bestselling Secret Series and the Bad Books. Despite rumors to the contrary, his books are not actually written by his pet rabbit, Quiche; the rabbit is merely his typist. Grandpa Larry and Grandpa Wayne are Cass's grandfathers. Because her biological grandparents are unknown, Larry and Wayne stepped in as her "substitute" grandparents. Grandpa Larry was Cass' mother's history teacher when she was in high school; while Wayne's relationship to Larry or Cass is not stated, Bosch has confirmed that he is in a relationship with Larry. [3] They own a shop established in an old abandoned fire station known as The Fire Sale, where they live with their blind and nearly deaf dog, Sebastian, dubbed the Seeing-Nose Dog.Pseudonymous Bosch ( / ˈ s uː d ən ɪ m ə s b ɒ ʃ, b ɔː ʃ, b ɔː s/) is the pen name of Raphael Simon (born October 25, 1967), the author of The Secret Series and The Bad Books series of fiction books, as well as The Unbelievable Oliver chapter book mysteries and two stand-alone titles. He has written 12 books, each widely read. [1] Personal life [ edit ] This is a entertaining mysterious book, very inspiring indeed. Many people will enjoy to read this book. Simon's date of birth comes from the author stating how his first professional essay was published one day after his 17th birthday. [2] According to Simon's official essay bibliography, the piece in question, “Hollywood Parents in Transit,” first appeared in the Los Angeles Reader on October 26, 1984. [3] Based on this, Simon's date of birth is 17 years and 1 day before October 26, 1984, which makes his date of birth October 25, 1967. Near the beginning of the book, in the second chapter I think, there is a mention of a dead person, "the smell of decomposing flesh," and "corpses." I wasn't comfortable with my 8 year old dealing with imagery of rotting humans, so I returned the book. Your mileage may differ. Yes, this book is all about secrets, big and small, good and bad, but it's also, intriguingly, about synesthesia and the sense of smell; each of the books in this series are/will focus on a certain sense. The book really has a lot going for it: a good puzzle, secretkeeping, adventure, humor, and clever methods to keep the personally engaged. The riddles were very good, the kind of thing I bet a kid would have fun working out before they read on to reveal the answers, and the appendix is full of random, interesting information.

Essays — PB/RS". Pseudonymous Bosch. Archived from the original on September 8, 2021 . Retrieved September 8, 2021. The couple then trace Cass and Max-Ernest to their school, but instead of finding them, they find a young artist named Benjamin Blake and Cass decides to be a hero and try to save him. The young couple aren’t what they seem from the outside as they have a goal and won’t stop until they achieve it. Will Cass and Max-Ernest save Benjamin and find out the secret of the dead magician?Amusing for parents and kids, without being too dark. Still, there is a lot of talk of "escaping death," and one character almost comes to an end in a gruesome way. But the tone is kept light, somehow, and kids will love the mystery and code solving elements.

The Name of this Book Is Secret (The Secret Series, Book 1)

This book is good. At the beginning the author is determined not to tell you any details at all and says if he accidentally tells you any information to forget it immediately. The story was so good I found it almost impossible to forget what happened. So here's my secret: I remembered everything I read in this book! I would recommend this book to anybody. It is amazing and easy to understand. In 2013, Bosch published Write This Book!, a do it yourself book; he calls it "a book that readers will write for me". Bosch elaborated in an interview with Wired stating that "it is a kind of half-written, guided mystery. Parts of it are going to be multiple choice, choose-your-own adventure, parts of it will be more like Mad Libs, and some silly stuff". [9] Cass can be very snotty and rude to her mother and especially Max-Ernest with little to no remorse, and has a pretty big ego. She grows out of it, though. Amber is Cass's classmate, often called the nicest girl in school and third prettiest; however, she is often shown to be snooty and gossipy. She is a fan of the Skelton Sisters and a consumer of their lip balm line, Smoochies. She receives a new flavor each week and gives the old one away, often to Cass. This book reminds me of A Series of Unfortunate Events maybe because of the writing. I liked it, actually. It's like having a friend tell you a story, or rather, a secret.

Did we miss something on diversity?

This book is pretty good! The beginning was kind of boring (thats why I rated it 4 stars and not 5), but after the first couple of chapters it was really good. It was a bit violent, but an insensitive 9 or 10 year old would be fine. I loved this book and can't wait to get on with the series. ( there is five books in the secret series.) I try not to poke too much at illustrations, but here, the artist wasn't reading what he was illustrating very closely, and sometimes the art just doesn't match what's in the text. I noticed this very early on. The text describes a real estate sign with an arrow pointing towards the house for sale. The picture of the sign? No arrow. I wouldn't call this a deal-breaker, but it's slightly jarring, and a little lazy. E poi oh, chi l'ha detto che un libro classificato "per ragazzi" debba essere esclusivamente per ragazzi? La letteratura per giovani lettori secondo me nasconde tante di quelle perle spesso sottavalutate..!! The Secret Series is a series by Pseudonymous Bosch (real name Raphael Simon), a mysterious Lemony Narrator, about two children who are not named Cass and Max-Ernest. Cass is a survivalist, while Max-Ernest has a condition (though no one knows quite what his condition is). One day, they are swept into the dangerous world of the Terces Society and the Midnight Sun...and the Secret. Do you think that Cass’ family life directly causes her to have a survivalist outlook on life? How does her not having a father impact her personality?
