About this deal

Education and training ו Bronchiolitis and viral induced wheeze - guidance for primary care professionals If breast milk is not available, infant formula is the most suitable alternative. Consult your healthcare professional before you start formula to ensure you have the right one for the age and needs of your baby. It is important to read the instructions on the tin and carefully prepare the formula exactly as the label recommends, any change in preparation could lead to health hazards. There are two organic formula milks available on the market, made by HiPP Organic and Kendamil. However, even in non-organic formulas, the pesticide residue level is set very low (must not exceed 0.01mg/kg of the reconstituted or ready-for-consumption product). Are any baby formula milk brands better than others?

Vitamin D is needed by the body to absorb calcium and the best source is from the action of sunlight on the skin, however young children should not be exposed to the sun for long. Vitamin D is only found in a few foods so a supplement is recommended for everyone. If you can breastfeed, exclusive breastfeeding is recommended for the first six months. Breast milk helps improve a child’s immunity and supports a healthy weight for mum. Eating a healthy, nutritionally balanced diet during pregnancy and breastfeeding is also important for mums. As for the constipation, the best advice I can give is to re-iterate Ellie's advice with the cooled boiled water at body temp or a little warmer for my man but not room temp or cold and the tummy massages. But don't do these within an hour of a feed. Remember little one may be thirsty after so then offer teh water.

If your baby is having a Lactose Free Formula, these can be used in cooking. The lacto-free brand milk and products can also be used. Alternatively soya, oat, hemp or nut milks can be used in cooking (as long as they are calcium enriched and not used as main drink until 1 year of age). Please note rice milk is not recommended for babies and children under 5 years. Approx. age: 6 mths*; Approx. weight: 7.5kg, 16.5lb; No. of feeds per 24 hours: 4; No. of level scoops per feed (1 scoop = 4.3g): 8; Quantity of water per feed: 240ml, 8fl oz Nutritional support for lactose intolerant infants. Aptamil Gold+ Lactose Intolerance is not suitable for general use and should be used under medical supervision. Some infants may require a long term lactose-free routine, so it is important to consult your healthcare professional for more information. Formula milk isn’t difficult to prepare, as long as you have a decent kettle to hand. Here are our four top tips:

Many formulas include an additional prebiotic ingredient: oligosaccharides. These are often referred to as FOS or GOS, which are produced commercially from lactose and sucrose, or 2’-FL or LNnT, which are artificially made to mimic oligosaccharides found in breast milk. However, although they are safe to add to formula milk, there is no strong evidence to support the efficacy of these additional ingredients. Lactose is found in soft cheeses, e.g. cream cheese and cheese spreads, mozzarella, feta, etc. However, due to the maturing process of hard cheese, most of the lactose has been removed. Therefore, hard cheeses such as cheddar and Edam are usually tolerated on a lactose-free diet. Babies progress at different paces. You can offer different consistencies: smooth, soft, mashed foods or finger foods. My baby is finding it hard to breathe ו My baby is finding it hard to breathe – babies under 3 months (Easy Read RAG) The difference is found in the protein make-up of the milk. Standard infant formula has a whey:casein ratio of 60:40, which is very similar to breast milk. Hungry baby formula has a whey:casein ratio of 20:80, which is similar to cow’s milk.Follow-on formula contains the same ingredients as infant formula, and its levels of nutrients are also strictly controlled under the same regulations. It contains higher levels of iron and vitamin D, which babies need a higher dietary intake of from six months; because of this, some people choose to switch to follow-on formula. This will make the stomach muscles move and, in turn, put gentle pressure on the intestines to make them move. While every care has been taken to ensure this information is always as accurate as possible, food products are regularly improved and nutrition content may occasionally change. As a result we recommend that you always read the label carefully before using or consuming any products. I would encourage you to discuss this with your Health Visitor who will be able to assess DD's weight gain and well being and help you to decide whether a change is likely to be helpful. In addition to the core ingredients, all formulas contain extra ingredients, a lot of which are the same across all the brands. These include LCPs (long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids), nucleotides and prebiotics.

Keep in mind that lactose intolerance is not the same as a cow's milk allergy. Lactose-free formula contains cow’s milk proteins that are found in normal infant formula, so it isn't suitable for babies with a cow’s milk allergy. Videos for 1° and 2° school children - mental health and emotional wellbeing ו Peaceful Place imagery The amount of lactose in your own diet isn’t related to your baby’s intolerance, so eliminating lactose from your diet won’t make a difference here. If you think your baby may be reacting to the lactose in your breast milk, the best thing to do is seek advice and guidance from your GP. In the short term, you may find it helpful to offer DD some cooled boiled water between feeds to help soften her poos. Also there are some self help suggestions in the link above, here is an excerpt... Regulations dictate compositional criteria, minimum and maximum levels of nutrients that must be included, the level of pesticide residue permitted, how formulas can be named and labelled, and how the formulas can be presented (for example, they’re not allowed to include pictures of babies). If you’re breastfeeding, you should continue doing so, and your baby may need lactase drops to digest the lactose in your breast milk.Usually, the enzyme drops are mixed with a small amount of expressed breast milk in a sterile container, which you can then give to your baby from a spoon just before their feed. The majority of products advise on three scoops per feed. However, HiPP Organic and Aldi advise on two scoops. This will be the result of a more concentrated powder. Lactose intolerance occurs when your body cannot digest lactose, a natural sugar found in milk and dairy products. It's often temporary and can occur in your baby's first few months until their levels of lactase (the enzyme that digests lactose) have become fully established. Approx. age: 7-12 mths; Approx. weight: -kg, -lb; No. of feeds per 24 hours: 3; No. of level scoops per feed (1 scoop = 4.3g): 7; Quantity of water per feed: 210ml, 7fl oz
