About this deal

Highly moisturising emollient gel for dry skin conditions, as may be found in eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, ichthyosis, elderly pruritus, and other dry skin conditions. It can also be used as an alternative to soap. Adverse reactions: It may help to apply an emollient before and after swimming. Leave enough time for it to be absorbed into your skin before you swim. Purified Water, Isopropyl Myristate 15% w/w, Liquid Paraffin 15% w/w, Glycerol, Triethanolamine, Phenoxyethanol, C10-C30 Alkyl Acrylate Cross Copolymer, Sorbitan Laurate. Indications: Emollients are used to hydrate the skin. Their effects are short lived and they should be applied frequently. To be effective, adequate quantities of emollients should be prescribed. Suitable quantities to prescribe: see Emollient Prescribing Guidelines These recommended amounts are for twice daily application for an adult. To keep the skin well hydrated, leave-on emollients should be applied in adequate amounts to sufficiently cover dry and inflamed areas. 500g = 1 tub or pump dispenser. Quantities required will vary with the size of the patient, the severity and extent of skin dryness. For children approximately half this amount is suitable.

How to wash with emollients Adults and the elderly: Apply pea sized amounts to clean and dry skin, gently spreading the cream evenly to form a thin protective barrier to cover the affected area. Children: Seek HCP advice before use. Date of preparation: It's a good idea to protect babies' hands and cheeks with an emollient before mealtimes to stop them getting sore from food and drink.

How to get emollients

Adults, the elderly and children: Apply the gel to the affected area on a regular basis and as often as required. You can buy emollients from a pharmacy without a prescription. If the skin condition is severe, talk to a GP, nurse or health visitor, as you may need a stronger treatment. Certain activities, such as gardening, can irritate the skin.
